Per Olsson
Dr. Per Olsson leads the Stockholm Resilience Centre's work on transformations for sustainability, focusing on agency and system entrepreneurship, social-ecological innovations, and reversing trends toward critical thresholds and tipping points in the Earth system. Recognized by Web of Science in 2019 as one of the world's most influential researchers of the past decade, he has published in journals including Science, PNAS, and Global Environmental Change. Olsson helped pioneer research on local ecological knowledge, adaptive co-management, and adaptive governance, working across scales from local water governance to multi-lateral institutions worldwide.
He developed the T-labs (Transformation labs) methodology and co-leads the Rockefeller Foundation Global Fellowship on Social Innovation. Olsson has fostered collaboration among scientists, policymakers, artists, and businesses—co-founding Coral Guardians and SHIFT, and advising MacGillivray Freeman Films' IMAX production Coral Reef Adventure. He helped establish the Transformations conference series, serving on organizing committees in Oslo, Stockholm, and Dundee, and is a subject editor for Ecology and Society.
